Hakone
At Hakone, a coffee bar in Norway, pale tiles and a planted ledge give the room a soft, daylight feel. Square Mater Café Tables in Coffee Waste Light run along the seating, paired with the Conscious Chair 3162 in soaped oak and Coffee Waste Light, designed by Børge Mogensen and Esben Klint, and two Mater High Stools by the Danish architecture duo Space Copenhagen. The tabletops and the chair seats are made of Matek®, Mater's recycled material, fabricated from post-consumer e-waste mixed with either coffee shell or wood waste.

One material, three pieces
at Hakone in Norway
The 60 x 60 cm tabletop has rounded edges and a simple, clean design making it suitable for various settings. A slim cylindrical metal base ensures the table's stability and offers free placement of chairs, which matters in a room where seating shifts through the day.
The Conscious Chair 3162 carries the same Coffee Waste Light tone into the seat, set against soaped oak. Beside it, the High Stool, considered a New Danish Classic since its launch in 2007, is shown in soaped oak with a Camo Pista Sand seat at 69 cm. Three pieces, one palette, and the same waste stream running through all of them.
