Terra Lighting Collection

The minimalist design of the Terra Collection was conceived by OEO Studio, a well-established design partner of Mater. The collection comprises of a pendant lamp, a wall lamp, and a portable lamp. 

The collection is our first lighting series made of Matek and its design is a direct result of the possibilities offered by Matek. The production method enables the seamless integration of joints and technical elements within the lamps. The design is minimalist, precise, and timeless, while the tactility of the Matek material lends the series a fresh and intriguing expression.

Made of electronic waste mixed with fibre waste

Cutting-edge technology allows Mater to make furniture from waste materials in their circular Matek™ material by combining fibre with a binder. The result is a unique compound that can be formed using pre-existing industry technology, such as press moulding.

The Matek™ used for the Terra Collection is made by mixing e-waste with coffee waste from Danish coffee producer BKI Kaffe. E-waste is a growing environmental concern across the globe due to the world’s consumption habits.

Only 17.4% of the total global e-waste is known to have been properly collected and recycled. This figure has dropped over the last five years as a percentage of total waste generated.
