Cutting-edge technology allows Mater to make furniture from waste materials in their Matek® material by combining fibre with a binder. The Matek® used for the Terra Collection is made by mixing post-consumer e-waste with either coffee waste from
Danish coffee producer BKI Kaffe or wood waste.

Matek™

The Matek™ material is made from a mix of recycled fibre and plastic waste. It offers a strong, durable surface that is easy to clean and requires very little maintenance.

For daily care, it is recommended to dust the surface with a soft cloth. The surface can be cleaned with a soft cloth wrung out in a mild solution of lukewarm water and a universal cleaning detergent. Avoid using abrasive cleaning agents and harsh detergents, as these may damage the surface.

Avoid placing Matek™ furniture in direct sunlight, excessive heat, or humidity over longer periods of time, as this can affect the appearance of the material. For tabletops, we always recommend using trivets under hot objects, such as coffee pots and cups, to prevent damage to the surface.

As Matek™ furniture is made from a blend of materials, each piece is unique, and its appearance may vary from item to item. A slight change in colour over the years is also to be expected.

Matek™ furniture also has a distinct smell when first
unpacked, but this will fade after a few days of use.
