Living Places
Living Places is an experimental living environment showcasing how healthy and sustainable homes can be built with the use of current technology and materials. The five pavilions and two full-scale homes are built by Velux in partnership with EFFEKT a Danish design and research studio, Artelia and Enemærke & Petersen A/S. The project is located in Copenhagen’s Railway District.
Address: Otto Busses Vej 27, 2450 Copenhagen SV
Sustainability inside and out
Being an exhibition for the best-in-class solutions when building sustainable the interior for the two full-scale homes is of course also carefully chosen to reduce the environmental impact. A collection of Danish brands here among Mater has naturally been chosen to provide furniture for this. When visiting the Living Places, you will therefore encounter a vast selection of our designs such as The Nestor Chair, The Conscious Table, and Accent Tables made of FSC-certified oak wood. Also featured in the houses are The Conscious Chair, The Eternity Swivel Chair, and The Bowl Table, which are all made with our circular waste material Matek® - learn more about Matek® here.
By analyzing all stages of the building’s life cycle and understanding the implication of each design choice, Living Places has achieved 3 x lower carbon footprint emissions than an average Danish single-family house.
